Experience the Harmony of Modern Innovation and Timeless Traditions at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park
/Set in Bangkok’s pulsing epicenter, where the city’s best attractions are just steps away, the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park delivers the best of both worlds. Here age-old Thai heritage and hospitality blend harmoniously with modern facilities and state-of-the-art technology to create one of the most talked about hotels in the city.
After splurging on the St. Regis, I was looking for a more affordable hotel without having to sacrifice service and amenities. I knew I’d be in Bangkok for 1-2 weeks and wanted a place to temporarily call home.
My best friend Lauren is a huge fan of Marriott hotels and she recommended I stay at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park. After looking at the hotel website and seeing all the 5-star reviews, amenities, and location, it was an easy decision to make.
Because I settled in so well, I stayed at the hotel for a 3 full weeks. The staff always went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed and were even kind enough to gift me 2 nights of my stay.
About the Hotel
Situated on Sukhumvit Road in downtown Bangkok, Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is framed by some of the city’s most dynamic shopping, business and entertainment districts. If you want to travel a little further afield, the nearby connection to BTS Skytrain Station Phrom Phong makes it quick and easy to reach any part of the buzzing city.
Within the hotel, contemporary design, the latest technology and authentic local experiences come together to provide a wonderful home-away-from-home for any traveler. From diverse dining experiences to innovative fitness facilities, the hotel caters for the needs and desires of everyone.
First Impressions
When I arrived at the hotel, I was swept away by its fantastic location right next to Queen’s/Benjasiri Park. The park was full of families enjoying picnics, small groups doing yoga and individuals jogging. It looked like the perfect place for an outdoor workout.
The hotel is also admired for being closed to some incredible shopping opportunities. Adjacent I saw the modern and stylish Emporium and EmQuartier malls. These huge malls have all the big name stores, including Zara, H&M, Banana Republic, Sephora, and Aveda. The EmQuartier mall even has a five-story waterfall outside. You’ve got to check it out if you’re ever there.
After soaking up all the buzz from outside the hotel, I was greeted with wonderful service from the moment I stepped foot inside the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park until the moment I left.
My bags were swiftly taken away and I was politely shown to a special check-in line exclusively for Bonvoy members. Check-in took just a few minutes and I was off to the 26th floor to settle into my room before I knew it. As a Bonvoy member you can request a room on a high level which I did because I love impressive city views.
Accommodation
There’s a great choice of rooms available at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, ranging from a simple Deluxe Room to the extravagant Sky Suite. I stayed in the Deluxe Park View Guest Room which was dazzling. The room was super spacious with loads of natural light which poured in through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
After sunset, the lighting in the room was still beautiful. There were many different lights, each with multiple settings, so I could create the perfect ambiance to suit my mood.
I’m not exaggerating when I say the king bed was the bed of my dreams — it was like sleeping on a cloud. I’m really fussy when it comes to pillows, so much so that I even brought my own to the hotel. But as soon as I lay my head down, I decided that I definitely liked Marriott’s pillows better. This has never happened before and I was even happier when I learned that you can buy all Marriott bedding directly from their website. Yesss!
There was an in-room desk which was perfect for working remotely. There was also an excellent WiFi signal in my room, which meant I didn’t drop a single conference call. Having several power outlets in useful locations is always a big deal for me. My room had power outlets by the desk and on each side of the bed — perfect. Although I never turned it on, there was a large LCD TV in the room, too, which was a nice addition.
The bathroom was bright and modern with a rainfall shower. Sadly, there was no bathtub and I really love having a bath in my room. Because of this, if I ever stay at this hotel, I’ll think about upgrading to a room with a tub. But the hotel did provide a cozy robe and slippers which partially made up for the lack of bathtub.
Swimming Pool
The swimming pool is high up on the 9th floor of the hotel. The space is really beautiful — the pool is framed by so much fresh greenery that it’s easy to forget you’re in the center of a bustling city. There are also plenty of sun loungers, some in direct sunlight and some protected by the natural shade of trees, so you can always relax your way.
If the glorious sunshine leaves you thirsty, there’s a nearby pool bar where you can order your favorite refreshing drink.
(Note: the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park website says there are 2 swimming pools, but one is exclusively for private events. There’s only one pool that guests are allowed to use.)
Food
Goji Kitchen + Bar
Goji Kitchen is the hotel’s main restaurant open every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant boasts a refined urban vibe with a fantastic open-plan kitchen and pan-cultural cuisine. The expert chefs use only the finest ingredients to create outstanding dining experiences, whatever time it is.
Goji Kitchen serves up all kinds of breakfast dishes 6.30am-10.30am, including:
● Yogurt
● Fruit
● Cereal
● Fresh juice
● Veggies
● Cheeses
● Meats
● Salad bar
● Pastries
● Dumplings
● Traditional Thai dishes, like stir-fried noodles and pork noodle soup
● Eggs and omelettes
Because I stayed at the hotel for so long, I got to try all the different breakfast offerings. Let me tell you, absolutely everything was delish. I don’t have any favorites to recommend to you because I really couldn’t decide between them all — that’s how great all the food is!
Siam Tea Room
Also open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Siam Team Room serves up a combo of Thai and Western dishes alongside locally-sourced coffee from Northern Thailand. I ate dinner here several times during my stay and it was great.
I tried the fresh rice noodle spring rolls with banana, prawns, salad, and a spicy dip. The dip was a little too spicy for me, but if you like hot things, you’ll probably love it. I also tried the garlic fried pork collar with roasted chili-garlic chutney and sticky rice. It was bursting with flavour and cooked to absolute perfection.
To accompany my meals, I sipped on a watermelon smoothie with lime and zero sugar. It was the perfect balance of sweet and zesty and really helped contrast the spice of the food.
Being a tea room, the restaurant also has a great choice of fresh pastries, bread, candy, tea, and coffee, all displayed beautifully. There was also a wonderful selection of local treats to buy as gifts.
The Lobby Lounge
This spacious and stylish bar is a great place to unwind with friends or network with colleagues. Here you can treat yourself to all kinds of coffee, tea, soft drinks and cocktails, as well as light international snacks, desserts and afternoon tea.
Pagoda Chinese Restaurant
An upscale restaurant that dishes up incredible Chinese food, this dining spot combines innovative kitchen techniques with age-old cooking methods. The decoration is beautiful — from the pagoda-inspired ceiling to the colorful wall tiles, the whole place will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to China’s Middle Kingdom.
Terrace on 22
Terrace on 22 is a gorgeous outdoor bar that overlooks Benjasiri Park. It’s an extension of Goji Kitchen + Bar and offers a wonderful selection of local craft beers sourced from across Thailand and Southeast Asia, alongside delicious light bites.
Akira Back Restaurant and Bar
Another beautiful bar and restaurant combo, Akira is run by an award-winning Korean-born and American-raised chef. Here you can choose from a tempting menu filled with exciting dishes that combine Japanese and Korean elements with international influences.
ABar Rooftop
I was really looking forward to visiting ABar Rooftop, but sadly it was only open for private events during my stay. It’s an incredible bar perched on the top of the hotel with captivating views across the city. It’s best known for having one of the biggest selections of gins in Bangkok, boasting more than 50 different varieties.
ABar
ABar is the next best thing to ABar Rooftop. Although it’s not at the very top of the hotel, ABar comes pretty close and still rewards visitors with amazing city views. It’s got a real 1930s vibe, with classic wooden decor, leather chairs and cocktails.
Sirimahannop
Soon Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park will be opening up Sirimahannop. From the pictures, this restaurant looks like it will be awesome. It will be dressed up to look like the inside of a trading vessel from the 1870s and will serve food and cocktails from around the world.
Room Service
Room service is available 24/7 throughout the hotel. As a treat, I ordered myself the classic Thai dish chicken satay, a freshly-squeezed tropical juice and some fruit for dessert. It was fantastic and really exceeded my expectations.
I love staying all cozy in my room while enjoying restaurant-quality dishes. If you’ve never ordered room service before, I definitely recommend you give it a try.
Quan Spa
The Quan Spa is on the 9th floor which it shares with the hotel’s gym. Here you can restore balance and indulge your senses with an extensive range of rejuvenating treatments, all accompanied by stunning views of the city’s skyline.
I was lucky enough to enjoy a free aromatherapy massage courtesy of the hotel which I loved. Before the treatment began, I was served some relaxing tea with lemongrass and pandanus. Then I got to pick the oil I wanted for my massage. After deliberating (there were so many interesting oils to choose from!) I settled on an oil called “Purifying” which smelled wonderfully fresh, clean and energizing.
The aromatherapy massage was truly wonderful. Afterward I really did feel fully restored, like my senses had all come alive. The perfect way to round off the treatment, I was treated to another cup of tea with a small cookie.
There were so many other tempting treatments that I had to give another one a go. The mineral bath won me over because it sounded like the perfect way to unwind and loosen up after a long work day. This treatment is inspired by the ancient Japanese tradition of bathing in onsens — outdoor hot springs. I’ve never experienced a true onsen, but I imagine this is the next best thing.
Gym
Featuring state-of-the-art equipment, regular fitness classes and activities designed to boost health and wellbeing, the hotel’s gym is the perfect place for a full body workout. It’s usually open 24/7, making it great for people who don’t stick to conventional hours. But because of COVID-19, it’s currently only open 6am-8am.
The gym is incredibly spacious, with plenty of room in between machines and equipment so you never feel like you’re in anyone else’s space. There are also plenty of large windows, letting in plenty of natural light while allowing you to watch the outside world at the same time.
Inside the locker room you’ll find all the usual facilities you’d expect to find in a quality hotel gym, including steam room, sauna and showers. But it’s the main workout zone that really shines. Workout equipment and features include:
● Squash ball court
● Cardio machines
● Elliptical machines
● Cable machine
● Free weights
● Medicine balls
● Swiss balls
● Yoga mats and blocks
● Foam rollers
If you don’t like working out alone, you’ll be pleased to know they also offer free fitness classes.
Amazing Service
Before my trip to the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, I hadn’t stayed in a Marriott hotel since I was in Singapore. Because of that, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the hotel's level of service. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were super attentive and the service was incredible.
Nothing was too big or too small — all my requests were met and my expectations were exceeded. In fact, I loved it so much that I ended up extending my stay twice.
